Gujarati Diaspora Seminar

An important program of the Gujarat State Non-Resident Gujaratis’ Foundation is to organize Gujarati Diaspora Seminars, with the objective of promoting better association with the Gujarati Diaspora across the world.


Pravasi Bharatiya Divas

Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is celebrated every alternate year to network with the overseas Indian community and acknowledge their contribution in the development of India.

The Gujarat State NRG Foundation actively participates in the event since 2003, always receives an overwhelming response from the delegates and dignitaries.

Global NRGs have always nurtured their emotional, cultural and spiritual connection with their Motherland and have contributed to its growth.


Joining hands for Mutual Growth (Vibrant Gujarat)

The world-class event, Vibrant Global Summit held at Gandhinagar (Gujarat) from 11-13 January to showcase Gujarat as the Global Business Hub. It also presents attractive investment opportunities in Gujarat for domestic and international investors, including NRGs. The specially developed NRGF pavilion at the Summit Exhibition to elucidate the connect between the foundation and the Diaspora and highlight various initiatives taken specifically for the NRGs.

  

NRI Marriage Awareness Seminar

NRI Marriage Seminar is an initiative towards creating awareness regarding marriage with an NRI. The seminar helps in educating people about the precautionary measures to be taken and essential formalities to be completed in case of a girl or boy marrying in the foreign country.


NRI Marriage Seminars are organized by the foundation on a regular basis in different cities of the state. Government of India has published a book on NRI Marriage, which discusses all the formalities required to be done, the book also described the foreign laws about status of a married woman and prevention of harassment etc. This book has been translated into Gujarati is available on www.nri.gujarat.gov.in.

 

Support for Gujarati Learning

Foundation has prepared Gujarati learning CDs. These CDs are distributed free of cost to NRIs/NRGs for learning Gujarati language. These CDs are particularly useful to those Non-Resident Gujaratis’ who have not received formal education in Gujarati language and also second or third generation of Gujaratis settled outside Gujarat.


Formation of District Committees

Government has formed NRG committees under chairmanship of the District Collector in all the districts of the state for resolving any problems/issues faced by Non- Resident Gujaratis, including those related to property/land in their native places. NRGs can directly contact the Resident Additional Collector, who is also the Member secretary of the committee, of the concerned district, or can get in touch with the NRI Decision of the State Government or the NRG Foundation. The foundation plays the role of co-ordinate for the committees.


The district committee also have representation from the NRG community. Four NRGs, who are native of the respective districts, can be appointed by the state government as member of the district committee. Important district officials, such as district development officer and District Superintendent of Police, are members of the committee. The committee will also help the NRGs in making investment in the state, extend required facilities to them when they are visiting the state and assist the new generation of the community in maintaining attachment with Gujarati’s rich culture.
